Facts about SITRA: South India Textile Research Association.

• SITRA was formed and registered in may 1951 under the societies Registration Act 1860.

 
• At present the members of SITRA count to 409. Most of them are textile mills, and textile associations.

 
• The membership has spread over all the corner of the country as well as to seven foriegn nations- Srilanka, Nepal, Malaysia, Kenya, Zambia, Tanzania & Ghana.

 
• Fixed assests of SITRA steadily grew over the years from mere Rs 21 lakh in 1960 to as much as Rs 11.5 crores today.

 
• Total assests have gone up during the period from about Rs 28 lakhs to about Rs 15.5 Crores.

 
• SITRA has published about 500 publications.

 
• SITRA also maintains a good and growing library of books, at present numbering about 18,000.
